Over the past month or two, I realize I have been really horrible about posting regularly on my blog and letting you all know what I've been up to. At the beginning of the year, I had been doing a really good job of writing, staying ahead, and getting things up on Instagram...and as with nearly all New Years resolutions, I've gradually gotten back into my old bad habits.
There's nothing quite like a fun job to get you back into the swing of things though! That is exactly what DeMarcus and Ashley's wedding has done for me. I enjoy my work, but I think we all know that it's easy to get into a rut and forget why you love doing whatever it is you do. I love photography because of the people I get to work with - either long-time friends or strangers who become friends.
I met Ashley through church and she is about the sweetest person you will ever have the pleasure of coming across. So, when I heard she was engaged, of course I knew her wedding day would be special and that I would want to play a part in it. As you can imagine, I was thrilled when the couple chose me to photograph their big day!
May 13th brought blue skies and lots of sunshine, which went right along with the attitudes of everyone involved. Because the church had been used for another wedding the evening before, it was all hands on deck in order to get the church redecorated and have the rehearsal the morning of the wedding. It was a fun challenge and everything turned out beautifully. My second shooter, Neeley Moore, and I had an awesome time hanging out with the wedding party and capturing all sorts of goofy moments. To get a little taste for the day, here is a slideshow:
The ceremony itself was sweet - a celebration of the way God has brought DeMarcus and Ashley together. With every single wedding, I have to do my best not to tear up and this was no exception to that. Have I mentioned that I love my job?? Well, I do. It's a blessing to be able to celebrate with people.
This couple's love for each other, and, more importantly, their love for the God we serve was apparent throughout the day as they prayed with each other, with their families, and with their friends. I pray that He will continue to bless and strengthen them as a couple with peace and plenty of laughter for all the years that lay ahead of them!
